I had the opportunity to evaluate Ament last year at the Adidas 3SSB in Omaha and was thoroughly impressed by his overall game. Fast forward to today, and his development has rapidly improved.

Standing at 6'9", Nate Ament is a versatile forward with the physical attributes and skill set to be a threat from anywhere on the court. His high basketball IQ, impressive size, athleticism, and deep understanding of the game allow him to excel in multiple positions. Ament has made significant strides in his shooting, post play, and perimeter game, further enhancing his all-around capabilities. Fun fact, Ament has grown at least 4 inches since last season and it’s possible he might squeeze another inch or two before it’s all said and done.

Catch and Shoot: According to Synergy, Ament shot an impressive 28/67 in catch-and-shoot situations, resulting in a 41.8% success rate. When given the time to spot up and shoot, he is nearly automatic. Playing alongside high-level point guard Kaden Magwood, who frequently draws defenders, Ament often finds himself in prime position to receive a pass and release his jumper. Overall Ament comes off downscreens and cross screens a lot to get open jumpers around the court .
Post Play
Although there is room for improvement in establishing a deeper post position, Ament is highly effective when he gets a touch on the block. He excels at using both hands for jump hooks and sweeping runners, showcasing his versatility. His footwork is impressive, and he demonstrates notable agility in the post, allowing him to maneuver around defenders easily. Ament sports a slender build but never will be seen shying away from contact, often seeking it out to create space and opportunities for himself.
